Short answer: buy the smallest charger that covers your highest-power device, has the port count you actually use, and supports USB Power Delivery. Do not pay extra for a huge wattage number unless your laptop, tablet, or multi-device setup can use it.

Start with the device, not the charger

The most common charger mistake is buying by the biggest printed number. A phone that only needs around a 20W to 30W class charger will not become dramatically better because the adapter says 100W. A laptop that expects 65W or more may charge slowly from a tiny phone brick. Check the boring label

The useful information is often on the side or bottom of the charger. Look for input voltage, USB-C output profiles, maximum combined output, and certification marks. If a charger has multiple ports, check what happens when two or three devices are plugged in. A "65W" charger might give the top USB-C port 65W alone, then split into 45W plus 20W when a phone is added.

The cable is part of the purchase. Higher-power USB-C charging can require a cable rated for the required current and power level. A bargain cable that only supports basic charging may cap the result even if the charger itself is capable.
